Get to know Matt

If I weren’t doing this I’d be? // Most likely you would find me working in the music business, radio industry, or pursuing work in international relations or foreign affairs.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? // It’s not traditional advice, per se, but a professor of mine read us this quote in class: “Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination… Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent.” This quote spoke to me and reminds me to stay humble. Every spark of genius, ounce of creativity or great idea was probably thought of by someone else first. What’s most important is authenticity and allowing that to fuel your creative output.

What are some causes you care about? // Wildlife preservation, privacy rights in the digital era, and of course clean energy and environmental stability as we face climate change. Reform in other areas fascinate me, such as health care reform, labor rights, and drug reform.

What’s a special talent or skill that most people don’t know about you? // I’m very involved in electronic music production and I enjoying DJing! I also am a huge history buff and enjoy most history related movies or series.

What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it? // Travel. I’m a travel fanatic! I’d love to be a travel writer or have a vlog and document the places I visit.

If you could leave work and travel anywhere right now, where would you go? // Asia! I’ve spent considerable time in Europe and South America, but have yet to visit and really experience the diversity of the Asia Pacific region.
